Question Icon What is the total number of employees who will lose their jobs due to the closing of freestanding Kids R Us and Imaginarium stores?
Answer IconThere is a potential of 3,800 associates across stores affected, distribution centers affected, regional support and headquarters support. However the company is making every effort to find new roles for many of these affected associates.

Question IconWhen were the associates informed?
Answer IconAll affected associates were notified over the weekend or before the stores opened on Monday, November 17.

When is their last day of work?
Answer IconDates will vary depending on the associate's location. The majority of affected stores will be closed by January 31, 2004.

Question IconAre any of these employees moving to other store locations?
Answer IconWe are exploring the best methods for our associates to be aware of other positions available within the organization.

Answer IconWe remain committed to the apparel business and will continue to support our 376 combo stores.

Question IconAre there plans for more combo stores?
Answer IconWe will add combo stores as the business dictates.

Question IconWhere are the Kids R Us stores that will be converted to the Babies "R" Us stores?
Answer IconWe are considering reopening approximately 15 - 20 of the Kids R Us locations as Babies "R" Us stores, but no decisions have been made at this time.

Question IconWill there be more store closings this year?
Answer IconWe do not have any additional plans at this time.

Question IconWhy was this decision made?
Answer IconThis decision was not made lightly and all alternatives were considered. However, we remain committed to the apparel business and the learning and creativity toy business in our other locations.
