Swift Transportation

Driver Manager Level I (linehaul, dedicated, autohaul, owner operator, shuttle and regional) :

Department: Terminal Operations
 
Reports to: Fleet Manager or Operations Manager
 
Primary Purpose: Learn the responsibilities of a Driver Manager
 
Essential Functions:

    • Manage a designated fleet of drivers
    • Establish a good working relationship with each driver
    • Work with planning personnel and dispatches Drivers
    • Promote safety of Drivers
    • Manage productivity of Drivers
    • Measure and record Driver performance monthly
    • Manage drivers performance and take proper disciplinary steps if necessary, including termination of employment
    • Know, support and enforce company policies
    • Manage service levels, route variance and speed of Drivers
    • Open fuel stops and routing of trucks
    • Ensure payroll is accurate for each driver
    • Manage Drivers in all of the above areas
    • Act as a liaison between the Driver and all other parts of operations
Skills: Ability to manage others, knowledge of the transportation industry preferred, ability to communicate well with others, ability to transfer knowledge, above average writing skills and organizational skills, professional appearance, ability to take direction from managers and detail oriented, ability to solve problems and work in high pressure situations, and computer based keyboard skills
 
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED
 
Experience Required: Previous driving experience or six months of management experience required and no previous Driver Management experience required.
 
Supervision Received: Normal
 
Supervision of Others: Drivers
