Swift Transportation

Gate Controller :

Department: Security
 
Reports to: Terminal Manager
 
Primary Purpose: Checking trucks and trailers entering and exiting the terminal yard
 
Essential Functions:

    • Verify driver code, truck, trailer and trip numbers before allowing/vehicle to exit from yard
    • Verify driver has L called load
    • Work with other Terminal ETC and Driver managers regarding any drivers special needs
    • Fuel and route Drivers if needed
    • Verify all vehicles coming into secured yard
    • Dispatch drivers as necessary
    • Assist Drivers at dispatch window
    • Answer phone calls
    • Coordinate any security issues with Security Department
    • Complete and distribute reporting to Terminal Manager and security department
Skills: Ability to communicate well with others, Computer knowledge preferred, Dispatching experience preferred, Must be dependable and prompt, Professional, Detail oriented
 
Education Required: High School Diploma or OED
 
Experience Required: Previous office experience
 
Supervision Received: Normal
 
Supervision of Others: None
 
Confidential Data: Information on crimes, suspects, employees / customer info
