Swift Transportation

Security Officer :

Department: Security
 
Reports to: Supervisor of Security
 
Primary Purpose: Under general supervision provides security for buildings and property. Controls access; monitors security devises and inspects facilities for security violations, hazards and other problems. Performs other duties as required.
 
Essential Functions:

    • Assesses security needs and controls employee and visitors access to buildings and property and ensures only authorized entry
    • Receives visitors and employees in order to provide assistance.
    • Monitors and controls all alarm systems and report all problems to supervisor
    • Programs and maintains data in the building access control computer in order to authorize appropriate employee access level for entry into facilities
    • Monitors and operates multiple CCTV monitors and cameras in order to conduct video surveillance and record activities at varied locations from central station
    • Documents information on unusual incidents; establishes, creates, updates, and maintains manual and automated filing systems and controls access to confidential information.
    • Operates two-way communications system in order to remain in constant radio contact with other security personnel.
    • Relieves and fills in at the gate security
    • Patrols buildings and grounds; responds to and reports unusual incidents or occurrences in order to minimize or deter the development of hazardous or dangerous situation.
    • Maintains proficiency in the use of assigned equipment
    • Escorts employees and others to ensure their arrival at predetermined destinations
    • Provides training to new security personnel and assist with trl check logs. Provides crowd and traffic control as needed
    • Assign special duties and assist with termed employees and drivers
Skills: ability to work effectively under highly stressful conditions, establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with others, interpret and act upon moderately difficult written information, communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing for the purpose of obtaining and disseminating information, work independently with minimal supervision, exercise diplomacy when dealing with people in sensitive situations, apply active listening techniques in order to obtain complete and accurate information, function effectively as a member of a team, analyze information and draw logical conclusions, rapidly prioritize a variety of tasks and take appropriate action, operate a personal computer and standard office equipment to perform simple clerical task
 
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED
 
Experience Required: Basic security procedures, alarm and fire suppression system, Basic computer skills
 
Supervision Required: Minimal
 
Supervision of Others: None
