Diana Grassrope is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe (LBST) and is the daughter of Chief Noah Grassrope, who is well-known for his knowledge of the old ways.  Diana was raised surrounded by her Tribe’s beliefs and practices that each individual had a responsibility and place in the circle of life.  Even with her strong convictions and family support, Diana found her life journey faced with many long-term problems, including unemployment.

To confront her challenges, Diana came to the LBST’s American Indian Women in Construction Management

training program, "The Bridge", administered through the Workforce Investment Act, Indian and Native American Programs.  Diana also participated in other training to gain life, work, and leadership skills to build up her self-confidence, resume, and plans for an improved future.  Today, Diana is a dynamic, self-sufficient professional, drives her own car, and is a proud mom and homeowner.

In her spare time, Diana is a proactive advocate on substance abuse within her Tribe, as well as other native communities.  She was one of twenty individuals selected to represent her Tribe in events in Hawaii.  She has truly embraced and fostered her traditional beliefs and has taken her place to complete the circle of life that strengthens herself and her people.
