Solicitation for Grant Applications (SGA) - PY 2006

Department Awards Nearly $260 Million for Senior Community Service Employment; 18 Organizations to Provide On-the-Job Experience and Training to Low-Income Workers 55 and Over

Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao today announced approximately $260 million in awards today to 18 organizations that will provide on-the-job experience and training to low-income workers age 55 and older. The grants, funded through the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), will help subsidize part-time employment and training in community service positions so that older workers can move to unsubsidized, private sector jobs.
