BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The IN Program's primary goals are to enhance and increase the value
and use of the One-Stop Career Center system through implementation of the
DPN service strategy; improve the One-Stop system for those with physical or
psychiatric disabilities, and improve the number of people with disabilities
registered and participating in WIA and Wagner-Peyser
programs, as well as improving employment outcomes. The grant will be used to fund the Indiana Navigator
Program (IN Program), which includes salaries for seven employees, fringe
benefits, travel, supplies, a subcontract, and other costs, such as an audit,
rent, utilities, advertising, postage, copying, and consulting services. Proposed employees include a part-time executive director,
controller, bookkeeper, program director, assistant program director, and two
Disability Program Navigators (DPNs), who will be
responsible for facilitating One-Stop services for the disabled. The addition of these two full-time
employees will give customers greater access to career planning, skill
building, and placement services. Partners include the Indiana Institute on Disability and
Community, ARC of Indiana, and the Southern Indiana Center for Independent
Living, as well as local community mental health centers, special education
cooperatives and schools, Department of Workforce Development (One-Stop
operators), vocational rehabilitation, and other community groups. During the grant period, the IN Program plans for 100,000
to receive Wagner-Peyser services, of which 5,000
(5%) will have a disability. WIA services during the two-year period will be provided to 2,000,
of which 230
(11.5%) will be disabled. |
