Byron Zuidema
Byron Zuidema


Byron Zuidema is currently the Acting Administrator of the Office of Financial and Administrative Management for the Employment and Training Administration (ETA), U.S. Department of Labor. As the Administrator, Byron Zuidema oversees Federal and contractor staff that performs diverse functions in support of ETA staff and the agency budget of over $9 billion.  These functions include Federal grant and contract management, audit resolution, budget formulation and execution, accounting, administrative services, human resource management and labor relations.
Byron Zuidema was appointed to the Senior Executive Service serving as Chicago’s ETA Regional Administrator in May of 1998.   He works in shared leadership with national, state and local leaders in support of workforce solutions and the design of Workforce Systems meeting the needs of employers and workers.

He embraces life long learning and actively supports Workforce Development professional standards and is a Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) and ‘Life Time Member’ of National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP).  He is a frequent speaker at a variety of workforce and economic development events.  Byron has extensive leadership experience in local, state, and federal levels of government and the private sector.
 
Prior to this appointment Byron served as:
  • President - Minnesota Software Association,
  • Assistant Commissioner - MN Department of Economic Security
  • Executive Director - Heartland Community Action in Willmar, Minnesota.
Other past experiences include: Minnesota Council on Quality, Chair of the National Governor’s Association Workforce Liaisons, and Co-Chair of the Enterprise Council where he was honored by receiving the Vice President’s National Performance Review Hammer Award as one of its original founders.
