POPULATION SERVED:  The project will serve a total of 1744 incumbent workers in information technology and engineering occupations.  The five-hundred thirty-five IBM employees, 175 Verizon Wireless employees, 1022 Motorola employees, and 12 NetBotz workers will receive training in the States of Minnesota, Colorado, Missouri, New York, and Texas.  All workers will have either a Bachelor’s degree or five years of comparable work experience.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:  Training for IBM and Motorola employees will be delivered by in-house training organizations through a variety of training methods, including traditional classroom delivery, e-learning virtual classrooms, and interactive instruction.  Training for Verizon Wireless workers will be delivered by both in-house training providers and external training providers utilizing traditional classroom and e-learning methodologies.  Netbotz workers will receive training solely through external training providers.

 

Occupations targeted for training include manufacturing engineers, computer engineers, analog design engineers, computer programmers, computer and information systems managers, database administrators, systems architects, web architects, marketing engineers, network administrators, programmer analysts, quality engineers, security administrators, software application engineers, and systems analysts.

 

Employer partners have committed to providing the total project matching amount of $3,324,520 in the form of salaries paid to incumbent workers during training.

 

Ninety percent of participants will receive a wage increase of two to six percent, dependent on job performance and business conditions.  Additionally, five to fifteen percent of participants will receive job assignments with new or increased job responsibility.
