POPULATION SERVED:  The project will train a total of 464 incumbent workers in Advanced Manufacturing occupations. 

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:  Training will be comprised of both classroom and workplace-based activities, including both theoretical and applied knowledge.  The duration of training varies by course, generally ranging from ten to forty hours, with one day of follow-up after thirty days.  Participants will take part in an average of 7.4 classes each.

 

Project will train 97 engineers, 15 information technology (IT) professionals, 142 management professionals, 20 accounting and finance professionals, and 189 business services and manufacturing professionals.

 

Employer partners have committed to providing $3,257,280 in wages paid during employer release time for training and $32,124 in cash contributions.  The grantee will be providing $205,128 worth of additional funding for a total match commitment of $3,494,532.

 

At least 464 employees will receive Continuing Education Credits.  Approximately 325 will receive Certificates in Introductory Lean Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing Implementation Tools, and Lean Manufacturing Management and Administration from the Oregon Institute of Technology.  The grantee will collect and report data on business-related outcomes of their employer partners, including jobs created or retained, cost savings, increases in sales, and capital investment.

Loomis, Silver Eagle Manufacturing, WorkSystems, Inc. (WIB), Workforce Investment Council of Clackamas County, Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council, Enterprise for Employment and Education (WIB).
