Knowledge Skills and Abilities - Results Oriented Accomplishments

Writing Knowledge, Skills and Ability statements is in fact one of the most important steps of the Federal employment process. In preparing these KSAs, you want to reflect your credentials for the position for which you are applying. To best do this write the statements as "RESULTS ORIENTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS".

Results oriented accomplishments should show what you have done on previous jobs to help the organization:
  1. Make $
  2. Save $
  3. Meet Goals
  4. Improve Work Life

Some examples of results oriented accomplishments are:

  • "Developed and supervised the total reorganization of the department's information retrieval system which provided 100 percent faster responses to customer inquiries."
  • "Established a new personnel program fo hiring, training and motivating new employees which reduced turnover by 50%."
  • "Developed staff studies which resulted in the addition of three new staff members."
  • "Developed an internal office procedures manual used by the managerial support staff."
  • Developed a progressive new maintenance program,including required forms and records, which saves the organization $30,000 annually."

Some examples of accomplishments that are to general are:

  • Interviewed clients to determine their suitability for various job vacancies and counseled them regarding additional job search techniques."
  • "Responsible for developing good rapport and lasting relationships between the business community and our agency."
  • "Directed all administrative functions including budget preparation and execution, requisition and procurement, public relations and personnel."
