African-Americans Served by the Workforce System
(Four Quarters Ending September 30, 2008)
A total of 7,032,299 African-Americans were served by the Workforce System during the 12 month period from October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008. (The source is program quarterly reports.) The largest number was served by the Wagner-Peyser program, 2,936,393. Unemployment Insurance was a close second, with 2,930,742. Next was the WIA Adult program, serving 927,871. After that was the WIA Dislocated Worker program, serving 149,731 African-Americans. Next was the Registered Apprenticeship program, which served 43,638. The WIA Youth program served 24,406 African-Americans. The Prisoner Reentry Initiative served 9,645. The Trade Adjustment Assistance program served 5,763, and the Senior Community Service Employment Program served 3,046. The National Farmworker Jobs program served 1,244 African-Americans.
