The State plans to use incentive funds for the following initiatives:
The Working Family: The Department of Education will utilize input from community colleges’ adult literacy and family literacy staff to address the needs of “the working family.” Activities will focus on assisting adults in building work skills while providing career awareness to children; and
Literacy Opportunities in One-Stop Centers: This activity will be designed to achieve direct literacy gains for job seekers who need this skill, and combine that achievement with the development of technology skills, basic education, and soft skills. Iowa Workforce Development will develop and direct this activity.
