  WIA Incentive Grant Summaries - PY 2004

  Oregon $714,422

The state plans to use the incentive funds to develop Pathways to Advancement within the workforce regions. Pathways initiatives will be pursued in three broad areas:

  • Developing and testing replicable "bridge models" for ABE, GED, ESL and Developmental Education;
  • Aligning Pathways to Advancement linkages between workforce partners and community colleges; and
  • Strengthening and/or developing secondary-postsecondary professional technical Pathways to Advancement linkages.

The Pathways model offers a modularized outcome-based curriculum, credentials, roadmaps (programs of study), pre-college "bridge" strategies, wrap-around services, internships/cooperative work experiences/job shadowing, and linkages to employer/labor market needs.
