WIA Participants by Program PY-2004-2008
The number of participants in the WIA Adult program more than doubled between Program Years (PY) 2004 and 2005. The number of individuals served by other WIA programs (Dislocated, Older Youth and Younger Youth) decreased during the same time period.
As shown in the table below, the trend of large increases in Adult numbers continued through PYs 2006-2008 growing annually at 63%, 62% and 84%, respectively. Dislocated Worker participants increased as well between PYs 2004-2008. These increases are largely due to changes in co-enrollment policies regarding the collection of self-service information, which started in PY 2005. Participant numbers in the Older and Younger Youth programs declined consistently between PYs 2004 - 2007, but saw an increase of approximately 10% and 7%, respectively in PY 2008.
