DirectionsRegion 5 Chicago This building is in the Federal plaza area (south of Adams and north of Jackson; west of State and east of Clark). The building is located in the heart of the Chicago downtown loop area about 3 blocks west of Grant Park. There is an El subway stop in the plaza area of the building -- it is the Jackson stop on the Blue line. We are just south of the US Postal office on the plaza in front of the orange Alexander Calder "Flamingo" statue (see picture). Directions to the Federal building:From O'Hare Airport:
From Midway Airport:
Building Security:Upon entering the building (doors are only open on the east and west side of the building), you will need to pass through security. You will need any government issued picture ID to present to the guards on the north side of the building (state employee ID, drivers license, ID card, etc.). You and all possessions will need to pass through the metal detectors and X-Ray machines. Since this is the 'public' entrance to the building, during busy periods this can take time. You will need to enter this way each and every time you leave and enter the building. The less metal you carry, the easier to get through. The ETA Regional Office is located on the 6th floor. Take the Elevator Bank for floors 2-17. Stop at the Reception area and ask for your Regional contact. Approximate travel time from a downtown Chicago Hotel:Via Cab: will take approximately 5-15 minutes. Due to one way streets in downtown Chicago, the cab will need to circle around the building or one block south to get to the corner of Jackson and Dearborn Streets. Other:This Federal Building has a 'Snack Shop' located on the second floor and a small area with tables and chairs. The items sold include pre-packaged items, cold beverages, teas, coffee, newspapers, etc. Around the Federal Plaza is a Dunkin' Donuts, McDonalds is ½ block further West on Jackson Street, and a Starbucks is located in the Continental Bank Building on Clark Street. |
