ETA REGIONAL INFORMATION ALERT NO. 104-09

ORIGINATING OFFICE:  Region 5

SUBJECT:  Notice – Public Briefings on Using the New H-2B Temporary Labor Certification Process

PROGRAMS: Foreign Labor Certification

1.  Purpose. To transmit notice of public briefings, on using the new temporary labor certification process for occupations other than agriculture or registered nursing, which will be held in Boston and Chicago in September 2009.

4.  Substance. The Office of Foreign Labor Certification (OFLC) in the Department of Labor’s Employment & Training Administration (ETA) has recently reengineered the H–2B temporary nonagricultural program.  As currently planned, the two briefings will take place in September, 2009 in Boston and Chicago. The following registration information should be used by any member of the public planning to attend any of the briefing sessions.

Boston: Thursday, September 17, 2009

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Location: Sheraton Boston Hotel

Chicago: Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Time: 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Westin O’Hare
6100 North River Road; Rosemont, Illinois 60018
