Office of Apprenticeship and the Women's Bureau; Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) Grants - (SGA/DFA PY 07-08).
The Women's Bureau (WB) and the Employment and Training Administration's (ETA's) Office of Apprenticeship (OA), U.S. Department of
Labor (DOL or Department), announce the availability of $1,000,000 to establish a grant program for the purpose of assisting employers
and labor unions in the placement and retention of women in apprenticeship and nontraditional occupations. This program year 2007 SGA
is authorized under the WANTO Act of 1992, Pub. L. 102-530, 29 U.S.C. 2501 et seq. To that end, the OA and the WB plan to disburse 2007
WANTO grant funds to three community-based organization (CBO)/registered apprenticeship program (RAP) consortia to conduct innovative
projects to improve the recruitment, selection, training, employment, and retention of women in apprenticeships in the construction
industry. Each CBO/RAP consortium must consist of a minimum of: (1) A construction industry RAP sponsor; and (2) a CBO (which may be a
faith-based organization (FBO) with demonstrated experience in providing job training services (soft skills and some hard skills),
placement, and support services to women for construction industry jobs.

High-Growth Job Training Initiative Grants for the Energy Industry and Construction and Skilled Trades in the Energy Industry (SGA/DFA PY 07-07).
Under the President's High Growth Job Training Initiative (HGJTI), DOL/ETA, announces the availability of approximately $10
million in grant funds for high-impact regional approaches to meet the workforce challenges of the energy industry and/or address
the shortage of construction and skilled trade workers needed to maintain and expand the energy industry infrastructure.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Opportunities in the Workforce System Initiative (SGA/DFA PY 07-03).
The Employment and Training Administration (ETA), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), announces the availability of approximately
$10 million in grant funds for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Opportunities in the Workforce System
Initiative (STEM Initiative). These grants will be awarded through a two-phased competitive process to primarily expand and align
current and new STEM workforce education and training strategies, activities, and resources in One Stop Career Centers to promote,
attract, and prepare disadvantaged youth and dislocated workers for STEM careers, while simultaneously enhancing the competitive
position of local and regional employers.

Indian and Native American Employment and Training Programs; Solicitation for Grant Applications and
Announcement of Competition Waivers for Program Years 2008 and 2009 (SGA/DFA PY 07-04).
The United States (U.S.) Department of Labor (DOL or the Department), Employment and Training Administration (ETA), announces
the availability of competitive grant funds to provide employment and training services to Indians, Alaska Natives and Native
Hawaiians under Section 166 of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for Program Years (PY) 2008 and 2009 (July 1, 2008 through
June 30, 2010). Competition for section 166 grants is conducted every two years, except that the Secretary may waive the
requirement for such competition for current grantees that have performed satisfactorily.
