YOUTH OPPORTUNITY GRANTS

Join us for Special Technical Assistance Conferences!

The US Department of Labor has scheduled a series of five Technical Assistance Conferences to assist potential Youth Opportunity Grant applicants in developing quality grant proposals.. These one-day sessions will provide information clearly explaining the Youth Opportunity Grant application process and requirements.

Who Should Attend?

These conferences are open to all eligible applicants from local Workforce Investment Boards serving a community that meets one of the following three criteria: (Or in States that have not yet made the transition to Workforce Investment Boards, the administrative entity that receives formula funds for a local service delivery area (SDA) under the Job Training Partnership Act).

(1) The community has been designated a Federal EZ/EC by the US Dept of Housing and Urban Development under Sect. 1391 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986;
(2) If the State has no federally designated EZ/EC, the community has been designated by the Governor as a high poverty area; or
(3) If the State has one/more EC/EZs, the community is one of two additional areas in the State that the Governor has designated as eligible to apply for funds under this grant program. Such communities must meet poverty criteria for EZ/ECs set forth in Section 1392 (a)(4), (b), and (d) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

Eligible applicants also include Workforce Investment Act Section 166 Native American Grantees and the community served that has both of the following criteria:

(1) It meets the poverty rate criteria set forth in Section 1392 (a)(4), and (d) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
(2) It is located on an Indian Reservation or serves Oklahoma Indians or Alaska Native villages or Native groups (as defined in Section 3 of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act).

Representatives from local community-based organizations that may be prospective partners are strongly encouraged to attend.
