            <title>Department Announces Grant to Texas to Continue Aid to Workers Impacted by Base Realignment and Closure Actions</title>

            <description>The Department of Labor has announced a $2.5 million National Emergency Grant increment to Texas to continue to provide services to approximately 1,472 military and civilian defense workers impacted statewide by the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) actions. 
&lt;p&gt;
This second and final grant increment, awarded to the Texas Department of Workforce Services, will fund strategies to minimize the time BRAC-impacted workers are unemployed and assist them in upgrading their skills to attract potential employers. These workers will be offered services including assessment, counseling, case management, job training, job development, relocation assistance, job placement and follow-up. Additional services will be provided based on individual needs and local labor market conditions.

            <title>Department Announces Grants-in-Aid to Assist Massachusetts and Oregon Workers</title>

&lt;strong&gt;Massachusetts&lt;/strong&gt;
&lt;P&gt;
The Department of Labor has announced a $3,319,718 grant to assist approximately 600 workers affected by layoffs at nine companies in Massachusetts` information, manufacturing, retail and transportation industries. 
&lt;P&gt;
Workers covered under the grant were laid off between November 2008 and October 2009 from the following nine companies in the Metro South/West region of Massachusetts: ACT Electronics Inc., Altus Pharmaceuticals Inc., Bose Corp., DHL, EMC Corp., Sepracor Inc., Snap-on Inc., Staples Inc. and Taylor Corp.

The Department of Labor has announced a $1,412,920 grant to assist approximately 328 workers in the state of Oregon affected by layoffs from Cessna Aircraft Co. in Bend, Ore.

The Department of Labor also announced $3,850,268 in grants to assist about 1,430 workers in the state of Oregon affected by layoffs from Monaco Coach Corp. locations in Coburg and Hines.
&lt;P&gt;
In the past year, the recreational vehicle manufacturing industry has experienced several layoffs within Oregon. The layoffs at Monaco Coach Corp. in Coburg took place in March 2009 with the closure of the facility. A grant of $3,319,088 will assist about 1,355 affected workers. Temporary layoffs at Monaco Coach Corp. in Hines took place in December 2008 and became permanent in March 2009 with the closure of the facility. A grant of $531,180 will assist about 75 workers.
