Community Technology Centers
Aug 6, 2001
The U.S. Department of Education's Community Technology Centers (CTCs) aim to promote the development of model programs that demonstrate the educational effectiveness of technology in urban and rural areas and economically distressed communities. SRI International recently produced a series of six CTC 'case studies.' Each study describes the community served by the grantee's centers, the organization of educational programs, staffing and professional development patterns, partnerships that centers have developed with other organizations in their communities, and the challenges faced by centers in start-up and program implementation. Academic enrichment and job training are addressed in several of these studies.
