Information Collection Request for "Stand-Alone" Planning Guidance

The Department of Labor has submitted an information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for revisions to the "Planning Guidance and Instructions for Submission of the Strategic Five-Year Plan for Title I of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) and the Wagner-Peyser Act." (This Guidance is often referred to as the "Stand-Alone Guidance.") The Federal Register notice on this information collection request was published on February 7, 2005.

The proposed revisions to this Guidance focus on two overarching priorities: (1) reforms envisioned by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998; and (2) national strategic priorities and direction for the workforce development system. As discussed in TEGL 14-04, ETA wants to publish this Planning Guidance along with the Unified Plan Planning Guidance in final by March 15, 2005. ETA will soon be submitting a separate request to OMB for clearance of the Unified Plan Planning Guidance.
