U.S. Department of Labor Announces $353,000 Grant to Assist Dislocated Workers in Wisconsin
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $353,068 National Emergency Grant to assist approximately 110 dislocated workers in Wisconsin.
“This Administration wants to ensure that dislocated workers are given the resources and training necessary to get back on their feet,” said Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training Emily Stover DeRocco. “This grant will provide these workers with training for jobs in high growth industries flourishing in the local economy.”
The grant, awarded to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, will provide assistance to workers in Rock County who were dislocated from ATK-Alliant Techsystems in Janesville, Wis.
The project funded through the grant will provide occupational skills training in at least two high growth industries including health care and information technology. Additionally, the project will provide core, intensive and supportive services, including remediation, job search and placement assistance.
National Emergency Grants are part of the Secretary’s discretionary fund and are awarded based on a state’s ability to meet specific guidelines.
