Manpower Inc.’s TechReach Receives Recognition of Excellence Honors
Third Annual Awards Presented at Workforce Innovations 2006 in Anaheim
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Manpower Inc.’s TechReach Program received the top Recognition of Excellence (ROE) honor in the “e3 Partnerships” category at the Workforce Innovations 2006 Conference in Anaheim, Calif. Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training Emily Stover DeRocco presented the third annual ROE honors, which recognize workforce investment system programs from around the country that have achieved outstanding success.
“Recognition of Excellence honorees are proof of the workforce system’s capacity to develop new and innovative approaches for preparing workers to compete in the global economy,” said DeRocco. “Every year, ROE honorees offer examples of education and job training programs that meet the needs of local and regional economies and can be replicated throughout the country.”
The Employment and Training Administration presents ROE honors in five categories. The “e3 Partnerships” category honors projects that demonstrate sustained partnerships between employment, education and economic development – known as “the Power of e3.”
TechReach provides a source of work-ready, qualified job candidates to fill the needs of employers in the Albuquerque area. Through TechReach, participants from diverse groups such as veterans, persons with disabilities, dislocated workers and at-risk youth enter a five-week, customized, technical-training program.
In addition to technical training, participants receive soft-skills training to help eliminate barriers to employment in areas such as communication, workplace dress, employer expectations and personal work ethic. Internships were offered to participants to provide real work experience and a competitive edge for job placement.
To date, four cycles of training, serving 48 workers, have been completed with a 100 percent placement rate as well as a 93 percent retention rate.
