Integrating the Disability Perspective into the WIRED Framework: A Workforce3 One Webinar
The US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (ETA), will host a webinar on June 12, 2008 at 2:00 (EST) on ETA's template for integrating economic and workforce development activities, and leveraging public and private resources to drive economic transformation in regional economies across the United States. ETA has implemented an Initiative called Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED). WIRED is a framework to transform the workforce system and regional economies by stressing the critical role of talent development. The template was developed to facilitate the integration of the "disability perspective" into the WIRED framework. This template is not only applicable to people with disabilities, but also to the other targeted populations, including (Youth, Older Workers, Ex-Offender, TANF, ESL, Indian and Native Americans, Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers) populations.
Attendees will also learn about the two pilot projects funded by ETA that incorporate this "disability perspective" into their WIRED framework. Attendees will learn about the Denver Metro WIRED and Southwestern Connecticut Regions' innovative strategies to include people with disabilities and disability resources in their plans for regional economic development. To learn how you can incorporate these strategies in your WIRED Region's plans please click here to login to Workforce3One and register today!
